Funding from the National Science Foundation (NSF) associated to the new Minor in Nanotechnology at NJIT will support 5 undergraduate students in their research on nanotechnology.

What does the Undergraduate Nanotechnology Summer Research Program (UNSRP) offer?

  • Stipend of $3,500 per student
  • Travel stipend of up to $500 for attending a national conference if the student gets his/her research abstract accepted.

What does the Undergraduate Nanotechnology Summer Research Program (UNSRP) require?

  • Student to carry out the awarded research project for 150 hours during the months of June, July, August, and/or September.
  • Student to present her/his research at the NJIT Undergraduate Research Symposium on July 28, 2017.
  • Student to submit an abstract to a national conference no later than December 2016. (A copy of the abstract needs to be sent to Dr. Sagnik Basuray for record keeping.)
  • Faculty advisor to mentor and guide the student during the length of the UNSRP support.
  • Research program to be devoted to study aspects of nanotechnology.

How to apply for the Undergraduate Nanotechnology Summer Research Program (UNSRP)? Submit to sagnik.basuray@njit.edu the following documents:

  • Application form (which can be downloaded from here).
  • Letter of support of the mentoring faculty, indicating (i) the reasons why s/he would like to have the recommended student doing research in her/his lab and (ii) the history of nanotechnology research in his/her lab.
