NSF Research Experience for Undergraduates Program

NSFAs posted on the National Science Foundation website, the Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program supports active research participation by undergraduate students in any of the areas of research funded by the National Science Foundation. REU projects involve students in meaningful ways in ongoing research programs or in research projects specifically designed for the REU program.

Student can participate in the NSF REU program through two mechanisms:

  1. NSF REU Sites:  These research sites provide opportunities in specific research area  to initiate and conduct research. REU Sites may be based in a single discipline or academic department or may offer interdisciplinary or multi-department research opportunities with a coherent intellectual theme.  Students need to apply through REU websites (a current  list is available on the NSF website.
  2. REU  awards on ongoing NSF-funded research projects.
