Speaker

Colloquium Speaker:    Dr. Yan Xu
Research Professor, NJIT

Yan Xu received his B.S. in astrophysics from University of Science and Technology of China in 1998, and Ph.D. in applied physics (solar physics) from NJIT, in 2005. His Ph.D. thesis focused on high resolution observations of flares and fine structures in quiet Sun, advised by Prof. Haimin Wang. He started post-doc research in X-ray energetics of flares, supervised by Prof. Gorden Emslie at Oklahoma State University. After that, he came back to NJIT in 2008 and now is a research professor. His major research interests include multi-wavelength observations of flares and cyclical variation of the Sun.
